In the business car world the launch of the new Impreza has been overshadowed by the arrival of Subaru‘s first (and excellent) diesel engined car – the Legacy.
However, when we first drove the Impreza the quick version wasn’t available. Now we’ve got our hands on the car carrying the name that made the firm what it is today – the WRX.
Unfortunately, while it’s just as quick as ever (0-62mph in 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 130mph), the car is softer and has lost that driver involvement and excitement that drew thousands of fans.
The upside is that it’s now a much better motorway car and therefore a better business car. But because it’s so fast the costs are high at 60.4ppm and just three years’ VED will cost £1245.
If you want a fast, and fun business car, why not try a VW Golf GTI? And if you’re still after a rally-bred Impreza, maybe the even faster WRX STI will do the trick?
