What’s new
We get our hands on the estate variant of Skoda’s user-chooser winning Octavia vRS.
Excellent
If you want value, performance and space then there’s few rivals to touch the Octavia vRS. And that’s before you pick the estate which has even more space inside.
Good
Equipment levels are impressive and as the standard trip computer shows, in regular driving the 200PS Golf GTi-powering 2.0-turbo petrol engine will easily return more than 25mpg.
Average
Lumbar support doesn’t adjust much, but the seats overall offer good support and side grip.
Poor
The speedo dial isn’t linear. At first it’s marked in 10mph sections up to 80mph then jumps to 20mph divisions for higher speeds, which takes time to get used to.
Verdict
So good that I’ve placed an order to buy one. Really.
