A decent cut in emissions has seen Seat‘s low-CO2 Ibiza models, including the estate driven here, drop to 92g/km from 98g/km and offer a monumental 80.7mpg.
Aside from better consumption there are no additional tax or operational benefits though.
Confusingly, the naming strategy has changed since the previous Ecomotive model, with the most efficient car in the range now being called E Ecomotive, so Seat can brand other models in the range Ecomotive if they have features such as stop/start or low rolling-resistance tyres.
The same faults as previous Ecomotive Ibizas are still apparent, with the three-cylinder 1.2 engine both noisy and lacking in power. But that’s entirely to be expected from a supermini estate this fuel economic. This higher of two trim levels of E Ecomotive model comes with elements such as rear electric windows, electric mirrors and cruise control that aren’t on the cheaper base eco model.
