Not only have the engineering geniuses at Porsche made the Cayman two-seat sports car faster, they’ve made it more attractive to the fleet manager too.
While only top-level directors will be able to run a Porsche on the business, the Cayman’s latest facelift sees the car break through the 30mpg barrier and drop 3% into the 32% benefit-in-kind tax band thanks to a more efficient, yet larger engine – now 2.9-litres, up from 2.7.
If you opt for the £1920 semi-auto PDK gearbox, economy and emissions improve even further. However, given the small gains and the high price of the option, the manual is a better bet. It’s also the better to drive, which is what the Cayman is all about.
Like its big brother the 911, the Cayman’s secret is that it’s easy and un-intimidating to drive, so you can use it all day every day. If you want to trickle round town looking cool, it’ll do that, and if you want a track-day drive, it’ll do that too. Quite simply, it’s a joy to sit behind the steering wheel.
