Peugeot‘s RCZ turns almost all heads it passes and with due reason – it’s a great-looking car.
It’s also plenty powerful in 1.6-litre 156hp form, and is comfortable inside with a premium feel. The back seats are not bad for this type of car, too, and the boot is a respectable size. However, ride quality is poor, especially on B roads.
Its most obvious rival on looks alone is the ubiquitous Audi TT. The base 2.0-litre 209hp Coupe is 2.2secs quicker and costs £26,265, compared with £22,540, while even a more powerful 200hp RCZ is around £2500 cheaper than the TT. Audi, unsurprisingly, wins on RVs and emits 1g/km CO2 less, meaning it falls into a 19% rather than the RCZ’s 20% BIK bracket. However, all things considered, cost-per-mile is identical at 56.4p for each. The safe (and more powerful) bet is the TT, but those looking for something new should consider the RCZ.
