The Astra Sports Tourer has built-in green credentials courtesy of being the market’s only lower medium estate car produced in Britain – at the Ellesmere Port Merseyside factory. Consequently, it did not need to be hauled by road transporter across Europe from one of GM’s continental assembly outposts and therefore has a smaller carbon footprint.
That eco factor is part of a production/sales/clientele virtuous circle as corporate customers, known for being more likely to select greener cars than retail customers, dominate Sports Tourer sales.
