The Laguna coupe is heading towards finishing its six-month tour with our fleet, and it’s a pleasant surprise to say it’s been completely bulletproof.
I know it shouldn’t be a shock to find a brand new car doesn’t break during 5500 miles and half a year of driving, but the previous-generation Laguna struggled to get through a week without something, normally electric, causing trouble.
It’s not unusual to find some little niggle or low-key problem affecting one of our test cars in their time with us, but the Renault has, contrary to expectations, been completely mechanically faultless.
The interior has also held up flawlessly, with the quality feel not coming at the expense of longevity.
The car’s still continuing to grow on me as I spend more time with it, too – the looks are as appealing as when I first took delivery of the coupe, and are still the car’s biggest selling point. It comes down to the individual, however, as to whether they counter the bumpy ride and an irritating stereo/satnav combination that defies logic on occasions.
