Gearshift indicators are proving to be interesting in our Laguna. Much like the BMW I was running before this Coupe, it’s (surprisingly) the downshift light that’s getting as much action as the upshift.

There’s a stretch of 40mph road on my commute and I naturally shift to fifth, only for a little arrow to appear, telling me the optimum gear for economy is actually fourth.

And it’s not an isolated incident, which has been an education. Unlike the upshift indicator, which tends to tell me something I already know and am choosing to ignore!
