After enduring a couple of months with a virtually constant creak cum squeak from the front offside corner of the Peugeot 208, an old-fashioned solution has been found and serenity restored.
Bristol Street Motors of Oxford took custody of the five-door hatchback
and eliminated the irritating noise by greasing the offending front suspension strut. The car was collected and returned efficiently after a wash and interior valet.
Now the nimble Pug’s excellent ride quality and sharp steering can be enjoyed without wincing over bumps and rough surfaces.
However, the ghost in our 208’s software system has yet to be exorcised, and the car is returning to the dealership to establish why the infotainment screen continues to warn of a non-existent satnav GPS failure. Peugeot’s tech gurus point to a batch of faulty screen units or duff cable routing during assembly.
Last winter’s frost and snow highlighted the need to allocate extra time for clearing screens inside and outside the 208, not least because the heater is leisurely about attaining the registered high max demisting temperature setting.
