Not only is the TomTom satnav system in the Mazda easy to use – either through the touchscreen or manual controller (I’ve yet to try the voice-command option) – but it also alerts you to speed cameras and tells you the current speed limit.

But my current favourite aspect is the amount of choice on offer for voices. It’s far greater than any built-in system I’ve used before.

My current choice of voice is James the Australian. He is a little more verbose than the others, which makes dull routes more fun, particularly when, on joining motorways, he announces “it’s time to cruise”.
