My perception of the Lexus name being an upmarket brand in its own right wasn’t quite matched by the lower-spec SE-L CT200h, the CT we ran up until recently, which left me suspecting that what I was actually driving was a ‘Toyota-plus’.

That feeling has changed, however, with the arrival of the F-sport, which essentially has the level of equipment I’d imagine a prestige car to have.

It’s amazing how a few extra gadgets – such as wing mirrors that angle downwards in reverse, enabling you to see the kerb – can alter one’s impression of a vehicle.
