For a 1.5-litre 109hp diesel engine in a vehicle of Qashqai proportions, you’d be pleasantly surprised at how powerful this green(ish) iteration is.
The Visia dCi 2WD Pure Drive is Nissan‘s nod to the environment in its most popular model, emitting 130g/km CO2 with official fuel figures of 57.6mpg. In reality, this was closer to 47.6mpg in a mix of urban and motorway journeys. With a cost per mile figure of 41.8p, it is notably less than the biggest-selling variant in the Qashqai range, the N-Tec 1.5dCi, at 48.1p, although this does have more standard equipment. Indeed, possibly to keep weight down, the car as tested is also the lowest-spec model, but it certainly doesn’t feel bare.
The Qashqai has been a surprising fleet winner for Nissan – operators keeping a close eye on costs definitely won’t be disappointed with this most eco-friendly variant.
