What’s new

Along with the new Club Cab (see opposite page), Mitsubishi has also launched a new L200 Tipper, developed in conjunction with Southampton-based firm VFS. The Tipper is developed from a Single Cab L200, with the flatbed removed.

Excellent

It’s the only factory-backed tipper pick-up available in the UK.

Good

The combination of 903kg payload and

go-anywhere off-road ability is rare for a tipper. L200’s decent on-road manners remain.

Average

The entry 4Work’s spec is a little spartan, with no aircon, manual windows and black plastic grille. The base model’s refinement is also slightly lacking, and the seats could offer more support, particularly for the thighs.

Poor

The driver’s seat hits the bulkhead too soon an doesn’t quite provide enough legroom for anyone six-foot tall or upwards.

Verdict

There’s not really anything in the market that can match the combination of price, ease of acquisition and handy 4×4 useability.
