Our 5 proved its carrying worth this month by successfully swallowing a large two-seater sofa. Said sofa’s owner, art director Calvin McKenzie, praised the Mazda MPV’s large, squared aperture and fold-flat seating that made lugging the mock Chesterfield a cinch.
McKenzie, who, until now, has been firmly encamped in the Zafira school of MPV thinking, has also admitted cagily to warming to the 5, believing the Mazda to not only be a better car to drive, but one that’s usefully quicker than the Vauxhall too. Fuel consumption sticks resolutely to a very reasonable 36.8mpg.
Thankfully, our steering rack banshee has not returned to haunt the new steering rack fitted last month.
