What’s new: On sale in June this year, Honda has tried with its hybrid CRZ to create a stylish, good-looking car that also has environmental credentials.
Excellent: As a new, relatively unknown model, this car is a head-turner. Admittedly, it’s hard to tell whether reactions are positive or negative, but it certainly gets attention for its interesting spaceship looks.
Good: The mid-trim Sport has good spec levels including rear parking sensors, privacy glass, USB connection, cruise control and a multi-function steering wheel.
Average: While it’s supposedly an eco-friendly sporty car, it isn’t outstanding on either. CO2 emissions are 117g/km, which fall under the lowest BIK band but only until April 2012, while the 1.5-litre petrol engine is a little underpowered.
Poor: The rear visibility is appalling. The bracing bar across the rear windscreen blocks traffic and often gives the impression that people are flashing you – when they are not.
Verdict: The perfect car for an attention seeker with a vague green agenda and not-too-much speed.
