What’s new
We try the range-topping Eleganza version of the Fiat-Suzuki developed small 4×4. Trim adds alloys, body coloured mirrors and metallic guards for those off-road excursions.
Excellent
A simple button offers the choice of 2wd, auto 4wd and a diff lock, far better than an array of levers.
Good
Suzuki builds it (Sedici is sister car to the Suzuki SX4) and quality on our car was fine. Un-4×4-like 39.8mpg is impressive. Copes well with mild off-roading.
Average
Interior lacks flair, feeling cheap and plasticky, although at least everything is easy to use. Road-biased Sedici handles okay.
Poor
The engine isn’t the Sedici’s strong point, it needs to be worked very hard to deliver what’s fairly modest performance.
Verdict
Sedici should be a cheap 4×4 to run with a cpm of just 28.3ppm, although diesel will probably be a better engine to live with.
