We’re big fans of the Ford Fiesta, so does the White Edition add to the appeal, wonders Al Suttie.
1 – So what’s all this white malarkey? Well, it’s one of Ford’s marketing wheezes for the Fiesta that offers more kit for less cash.
2 – With the White, you get alloys with – and try to sound surprised here – white inserts. There are also white door and steering wheel plastics.
3 – The last of the white-ness is the stitching on the seats, and overall it’s a subtle approach.
4 – Do all of these bits add up to a more appealing car than the similarly priced Titanium model? No, they don’t.
5 – What you do get, though, is what every Fiesta offers by way of a great driving experience. Handling, steering and ride are all top notch.
6 – You also get the willing 100hp 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo petrol engine. It’s no ball of fire, but it loves to rev.
7 – It’s also good on the motorway where it keeps quiet and the five-speed manual gearbox enjoys a near-perfect shift.
8 – 99g/km CO2 emissions and 65.7mpg are also attractive for anyone looking to save cash but not drive a diesel.
9 – Mind you, we averaged 48.9mpg during our time with the car, though that did include enjoying the car’s dynamic abilities occasionally.
10 – If you like the White Edition, go for it. Otherwise, we’d save a few quid and have the standard, and brilliant, Zetec model.
