?There’s nothing wrong with white. That was the message from the experts at BusinessCar Live‘s residual value seminar last week.

According to auction firm BCA, white cars are no longer cash-killers. That honour goes to green or maroon.

“A recent report said that white is the safest colour on the road, and after that we saw a big increase in demand for white cars,” said BCA general manager Stuart Pearson. The colour is also popular with taxi firms buying used diesel saloons, and is actually fashionable for cars such as the Mini.

At a recent fleet auction, Pearson claims all but four cars were sold. Of the unwanted stock three were green, one maroon.

“Green is the most difficult, unless it’s a Jag,” said Pearson.
