VW has confirmed it will offer its new Sharan MPV with both six- and seven-seat configurations.

The six-seater is expected to appeal to the likes of private hire fleet Addison Lee, with the format consisting of half a dozen ‘captain’s chairs’ rather than the less luxurious individual seats of the seven-seater. The move is also hoped to open the Sharan up to the luxury market as a rival to the likes of the larger Mercedes-Benz Vito.

The standard seven-seater is still expected to be the more popular variant when the new model arrives in the UK this November.
