Volvo has revealed a jacked-up 4×4 version of the premium lower medium V40, known as the V40 Cross Country.

While it isn’t a full off-roader, it sits 40mm higher than the hatchback and features rugged exterior body cladding while certain variants are available with four-wheel drive.

The cleanest version will be the 115hp front-wheel drive D2 with a 1.6-litre diesel engine emitting 99g/km and returning 74.3mpg.

The car will be revealed at the Paris motor show. P11D and on-sale dates have yet to be confirmed for the UK but it is expected in showrooms in the first half of 2013.
