Vauxhall has proclaimed that its new Corsa will offer “exceptionally low” emissions from its 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine when the latest version of the supermini arrives in the UK at the end of this year.

The new little engine, which is Euro6 emissions legislation compliant, is also claimed to offer class-leading noise, vibration and harshness, and will come in 90hp or 115hp alternatives. There will also be a  “much-improved” Euro6-compliant 1.3-litre diesel and three other petrol units.

Vauxhall has also said it is aiming to become the class benchmark for driveability, comfort and practicality.

Pricing and emissions data will be released nearer the car’s arrival in the final quarter of 2014.
