Vauxhall‘s UK MD Duncan Aldred has revealed that he is disappointed by the Government’s approach to the taxation of ultra-low-CO2 cars that sees the Ampera range-extender jump from a 5% BIK band to 13% in 2015.

Speaking to BusinessCar, he said: “The Government’s plans for ultra-low-CO2 cars don’t help things. We’ve been a strong lobbyist to get that reviewed. We need a consistent long-term strategy.

“I’d hope they’d change their minds if they want to promote these vehicles.”

Aldred said he had brought the topic up with business minister Michael Fallon when he visited the Paris motor show.
