Vauxhall has revealed a facelifted version of its Meriva mini-MPV, which gets the firm’s new 1.6-litre diesel engine to cut emissions over the outgoing model.

The 136hp 1.6 CDTi unit, first made available in the Zafira Tourer MPV and due in the Astra next year (see page 3 for details), slashes CO2 to 116g/km – compared to the existing 139g/km, 130hp 1.7-litre CDTi model, which it will replace in the line-up in November. Economy is up from 53.3mpg to 64.2mpg.

The mild facelift comprises a new grille and headlamps, along with options including a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels.
