MG has unveiled a facelifted version of its ZS EV.

Among the updates is the installation of a larger, 72kWh battery, said to allow a driving range of 273 miles on a single charge, compared with 163 miles for the outgoing car.

The new battery can be fully charged in 10.5 hours with a standard 7kW charger, or in 42 minutes on a 100kW rapid charger.

An alternative 51kWh battery offering a range of 198 miles will join the range next year.

Design changes with the facelift include a new front end look specific to the EV, with a ‘stamped-effect’ grille, a new side-opening charging port, and redesigned LED headlights and DRLs, while the model also gets a redesigned rear bumper and new-look wheels.

Inside, a 10.1in touchscreen features new graphics and improved functionality, while the interior also gets a new instrument cluster, and on higher-spec models wireless charging.

A new connectivity system also allows various vehicle functions to be controlled remotely via a smartphone app.

Two equipment grades will be available – SE and Trophy. UK prices will be announced next month.
