Ford has announced updates to its Mondeo range – including the debut of an estate version of its hybrid model.
Also still available as a four-door saloon, the hybrid – which pairs a 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor to produce 187hp – will come with tweaked control software designed to give a more refined driving experience, as well as greater fuel efficiency and performance.
The estate version offers 403 litres of boot space with the rear seats in place, and up to 1,508 litres with them folded down.
For the regular Mondeo range, there’s a new 2.0-litre diesel engine, which will be available in 150hp and 190hp forms. Provisional CO2 emissions are 127g/km and 133g/km respectively.
The engine will also be available with a new eight-speed automatic transmission, which will be controlled by a rotary dial. It features adaptive shift scheduling which analyses driving styles with the aim of optimising gearshift timings, and adaptive shift quality control, designed to adjust clutch pressures for improved smoothness.
A six-speed manual gearbox is also available, as is four-wheel drive.
A 1.5-litre, 165hp petrol engine can also be specced, with CO2 emissions from 150g/km.
Also new with the revised Mondeo is adaptive cruise control, with a stop-and-go feature on automatic cars, and an intelligent speed limiter, designed to read speed limit signs and adjust the vehicle’s maximum speed accordingly.
Styling tweaks include a revised front end design and new tail lights, while interior changes include new seat fabrics and door handle materials.
Deliveries of the revised Mondeo range are set to begin in March. Official economy and emissions data will be published closer to the sale date.
