Audi is in negotiations with Germany over increasing the number of TTs available to UK buyers after what the company describes as “demand problems” saw waiting lists spiral beyond the end of 2007.

Almost 2500 were registered in the first three months of the year, a quarter into fleet.

“We have sourced extra supply in the hundreds,” said an Audi spokesman. “We’re trying to get more but there’s no stock sitting anywhere so we’re having to nick production space.”
