Chauffeur firm Tristar Worldwide has chosen to go solus with Mercedes for its UK fleet of 450 cars after ending a 15-year relationship with Volvo.

The deal makes it the largest solus Mercedes fleet in the UK.

The firm was previously operating a mix of Volvos and Mercedes models, but the company’s fleet will just feature the German brand by the end of this year, and will be made up of S-class, E-class and Viano models. There are currently no plans to add the new C-class, but the firm will be reviewing its S-class models when the plug-in hybrid version is launched before the end of the year. Chief executive Dean De Beer is planning to expand the fleet this year in response to demand, with a marked increase from the leisure sector in particular.

All cars are supplied direct from Mercedes and are on a variety of contracts with nine- to 24-month rotation periods.
