Fleet management company TR Fleet has announced it is supporting the DriveSecure Grey Fleet Self-Declaration product.
The scheme encourages grey fleet drivers to declare details of the vehicle they use for work, the number of points on their licence and accept a copy of the employer’s Safe Driving at Work policy.
TR Fleet said that by encouraging grey fleet company car drivers to sign up to the programme it provides legal compliance within corporate manslaughter laws.
The company has urged fleets to remember that it is important that employees who drive privately-owned cars on business are subject to the same controls, policies, checks and management inputs as company car drivers and added that employers often have little control over the type or condition of the grey fleet vehicle, while many companies don’t carry out checks on whether the vehicle is correctly insured for business use.
