Toyota is to re-enter the baby people carrier market early next year with the new Verso-S. The Japanese brand hasn’t had a supermini-MPV since the Yaris Verso went off-sale in 2006.

The new Verso-S is claimed to have a “practical, flexible interior design that maximises usable space, comfort and quality”.

Although details won’t be confirmed until the Paris motor show later this month, the petrol engine line-up is likely to mirror the Yaris range, with 1.0- and 1.3-litre alternatives. In addition, Toyota has announced a new interior finish for the IQ model city car, designed to increase perceived quality.
