The new three-door version of the recently facelifted Mazda 2 will cost around five hundred pounds less than its five-door sibling that is currently on sale.

It is expected the three-door will make up 40% of sales when it goes on sale from June.

Entry-level TS specification is expected to be available for less than £8000 when coupled with the 1.3-litre petrol engine.

TS2 trim will also be available in June, while the Sport variant will not be available until August.

Meanwhile, a revised RX-8 coupe will also be launched in July, promising lower CO2 and fuel consumption figures.
