With the number of apps available that provide interesting benefits to fleets are constantly increasing, we were faced with the difficult task of identifying which one stands out and offers something better than the rest.
Although many apps came close to the top spot, Ogilvie Happy Drivers took the crown, making it a second win for Ogilvie in our awards this year – and it’s not too difficult to see why. The benefits of the app go well beyond just those for its own customers, and most competitor apps are only accessible via a personal security login for their own clients.
When users launch the app for the first time they are asked whether they are an Ogilvie Fleet customer. Depending on their selection, the content is then personalised for that driver.
The app is freely downloadable from the App Store or on iOS and provides functions including ‘find my nearest’ fuel station, EV charging point, car park or supermarket. The app also offers functionality specifically for fleets such as a company car BIK tax calculator as well as other information useful to all drivers such as information on efficient, winter and overseas driving.
Interestingly, the app also provides access to Kwik Fit, Ogilvie Fleet’s fast-fit partner, and allows drivers to access centre information, book a mobile phone appointment and find a vehicle’s tyre pressure PSI as well as a ‘sell your car’ feature, which provides a free, instant, no obligation valuation of any vehicle.
A checklist of what to do in the event of an accident ?record any personal injuries, vehicle or infrastructure damage, the ability to continue the journey, call 999 (a smartphone will provide exact location via GPS co-ordinates), collect contact details of others involved, take photos at scene – is also included
Ogilvie says that even more specific information will also to be available to Ogilvie Fleet drivers including date of last and next service, CO2 value, engine type and CC, and all BIK tax details.
Additionally, emergency contact details in the event of the breakdown of an Ogilvie Fleet customer’s vehicle provides contact details for the RAC (the motoring organisation is the company’s preferred partner). Similarly, in the event of a tyre requiring repair/replacement, Kwik-Fit information is provided.
In those two eventualities, drivers who are not at the wheel of an Ogilvie Fleet-supplied vehicle will be able to access information relating to a number of breakdown assist organisations and fast-fit specialists that will be able to help.
