Subaru‘s diesel Forester will be heading to its first customers before the end of September.
Priced from £20,295, the diesel is expected to account for 80% of Forester sales.
The entry-level 2.0-litre in ‘X’ trim is more than £2000 more expensive than the lowest specification petrol.
The diesel offers a higher level of equipment, though, with alloy wheels and a leather steering as standard.
It manages fuel economy of 44.8mpg and emissions of 167g/km.
Performance is not totally compromised by the inclusion of the Boxer diesel – a top speed of 115mph is possible and 60mph is reached in 10.0secs.
