Some models in Audi’s E-Tron EV range will now be able to travel further on a single charge than they were before thanks to a software update.
The manufacturer says the update, which is applicable to E-Tron 55 Quattro spec cars from the 2019 and 2020 model years, allows up to 12.4 miles of additional range.
Among the effects of the software update is to expand the usable capacity of the car’s battery.
In addition, it is said to optimise control of the front electric motor – allowing it to be almost completely disconnected and powered off when not required during normal driving – and improve temperature regulation of the powertrain, therefore reducing energy consumption.
The update can be installed free of charge at Audi service centres, and is said to be compatible with 1,655 vehicles currently on the road in the UK.
