Seat’s new upper medium Exeo, based on the previous Audi A4, will cost from £17,740 when it goes on sale in April.

The entry-level car will be a 143PS 2.0-litre diesel in S trim, while a 170PS 2.0-litre diesel in SE Lux tops the range at £21,340.

Standard kit includes cruise control, a USB connection, climate control and alloy wheels. The SE trim brings parking sensors, leather steering wheel and auto lights and wipers. Exeo’s Sport trim offers sport seats and suspension, while the SE Lux drivers will get leather seats and xenon headlights.

Exeo’s option list includes toys such as electrically adjustable heated seats, satnav and double glazed side windows.
