Road Safety GB, the local authority road safety organisation, has seen more than 300 groups, organisations and businesses register for its information library in its first six months of operation.

As BusinessCar reported last year before the web-based Road Safety Knowledge Centre went live, the library has been opened to any organisation, fleet or business looking for information to reduce road accidents.

The DfT-funded Knowledge Centre is designed to allow information on road safety best practice to be shared quickly.

A Road Safety GB spokesman said: “We are very pleased with the initial response from users and with the amount and quality of material we’ve added.

“There are 1451 registered users and 338 member organisations. There is also a ‘help’ facility, which enables registered users to request advice and assistance from fellow users. To date there have been 47 help requests, and 141 replies.”

Information in the Knowledge Centre is presented in two ways: by road safety topic (such as speed or motorcyclists) and by type of activity (such as engineering or enforcement).

Fleets wanting to join the free resource can register at: www.roadsafetyknowledgecentre.org.uk.
