Volkswagen has made two new equipment grades and a new petrol engine available with its Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace SUVs.

The new Match grade replaces the previous SE and SE Nav models, with equipment including a rear-view camera, park assist, keyless entry and 19in alloy wheels.

Further up the range, the previous R-Line grade has been replaced by R-Line Tech, which adds features including area view, park assist, keyless entry and an electric tailgate.

Match prices start at £26,750 with a 1.5-litre, 130hp petrol engine and manual transmission, and R-Line Tech prices start at £33,150 with a 1.5-litre, 150hp petrol engine and automatic transmission.

According to VW, the value of the new equipment compared with the cost of the outgoing trims means a saving of more than £1,100 with Match spec, and nearly £1,300 with R-Line Tech.

The newly-available engine option is a 2.0-litre, 230hp petrol unit, which is available with SEL and R-Line Tech equipment grades, and comes as standard with four-wheel drive and seven-speed automatic transmission.

Official combined fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures are 36.7mpg and 175g/km respectively.

Prices for the engine with the Tiguan are £35,820 with SEL, and £38,335 with R-Line Tech.
