Oxfordshire County Council is looking to introduce a workplace parking levy in the city of Oxford before 2020.

The plans are part of a consultation it is launching in February as part of its Transport Strategy to improve getting in and out of the city.

While pricing details and where the levy zone would be have not been revealed, the council has said it will model its charge on Nottingham City Council’s £362 annual parking levy per work car park space. That price is increasing to £375 in April this year.

Employers in Nottingham that provide 11 or more workplace parking places are required to get a workplace licence.

Oxfordshire council will make a decision on whether it will introduce a WPL before the end of spring this year.
London is also considering a WPL as part of Boris Johnson’s ‘Transport Emissions Roadmap’. It would see those parking at work in the capital paying £400 a year.
