Just over half of all new cars registered in September were fitted with a digital radio according to the Society of Motor Manufactures and Traders.

Over 210,000 cars were registered with DAB radios as standard, up 50% on the previous September.

According to SMMT statistics, over 1.25 million new cars with DAB radios were registered in the last year.

“We are delighted to see the ongoing growth of new car registrations in September and the continuing drive to digital,” said Mike Hawes, CEO SMMT. “The great progress being made by manufacturers in the line-fitment of digital radio – and the introduction of new products in the aftermarket - demonstrates the importance the automotive sector attaches to this technology.”
