Nissan plans to scale down Motabilty with the new Qashqai.

The original model, which has just been superseded by an all-new version, performed well in the channel, but UK marketing director, Guillaume Masurel told BusinessCar that the firm is planning to curtail the Qashqai’s volumes in the sector and replace them with other models in the range.

“It’s a big fleet and it’s profitable. In profit terms, it’s better to do Motability than rental, so it’s good for volume.

“[The Qashqai’s Motability sales] will not need to grow because we have more cars suitable for it – the Note, for example – so the Qashqai weight may come down here a bit.”
