Nissan‘s Qashqai has won CAP’s used car of the year award for the second consecutive year. The value guide highlighted consistently strong RVs as a core reason for the plaudit.

The UK-built crossover’s strength in the business car sector is likely to be consolidated in March by the arrival of a 1.6-litre diesel-powered front-wheel-drive version, incorporating stop-start, with a CO2 rating of 119g/km.

CAP’s verdict on the Qashqai was that by “marrying the practicality of a people carrier with the looks of a quality 4×4” it provided a combination of economy, handling, strong build quality and reliability, which made it the “perfect used car for our time.”

The Qashqai, 85% of which are sold in lower emission front-wheel-drive form, was the eighth biggest fleet seller in the UK up until the end of November last year, and was in the top three for Motabilty registrations.
