Nissan has updated the 110hp 1.5-litre diesel engine in its Juke line-up to improve emissions and economy.
The outgoing engine has accounted for around a third of Juke sales since the model’s launch at the end of 2010, but is expected to become even more popular following the tweaks, which also include reduced noise and more torque.
Changes to achieve the improvements include the introduction of Nissan’s automatic stop/start system and gear ratio adjustments, both of which help the 1.5 dCi improve economy from 58.9mpg to 67.3mpg, while emissions fall from 124g/km to 109g/km.
Fuel efficiency is also helped by Nissan’s dynamic control system, offering drivers Eco, Normal and Sport settings, which selects appropriate pedal sensitivity settings in Eco and Sport modes, but also limits engine torque in Eco mode.
