Production of Ford‘s next-generation Mondeo will be delayed due to problems with specification levels and homologation for European markets.

Previously scheduled to go on sale in Europe in the first quarter of 2013, the new Mondeo (known as the Fusion in the US where it debuted) was unveiled in pre-production guise in January.

The finished version was due to be revealed at the Paris motor show in September, but the Blue Oval has supposedly pushed back production, which takes place at its Genk factory in Belgium, for up to three months, rendering its upper medium fleet favourite with a likely on-sale date of mid-way through 2013.
