The Highways Agency has announced it will be upgrading its fleet over the next four years and has agreed a new £45m contract to do so.
Schmidt UK and Romaquip are to deliver the vehicles, which will be used to clear snow and spread dry, treated and pre-wetted salt on icy roads.
With new, more efficient vehicles, the Highways Agency will be able to honour its agreement with the Environment Agency to lower the levels of salt used on the roads.
