Renault has unveiled the production version of the 5 E-Tech, its new electric small car.
Inspired by the classic Renault 5 from the 1970s, the new model follows on from a concept car displayed in 2021.
Measuring less than four metres long, the 5 E-Tech is the first model to be based on the new AmpR Small platform, designed for small EVs.
It will launch with a 150hp motor and a 52kWh battery, allowing a range of up to 248 miles on the WLTP cycle, while 100kW DC charging capacity will allow a 15-80% battery charge in 30 minutes. A 120hp/40kWh version will join the line-up subsequently.
Vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-load charging technology will be available.
Three equipment grades will be on offer – Evolution, Techno, and Iconic Five.
The first Renault 5 E-Techs are set to arrive in the UK in the first quarter of 2025. Full UK specs and prices are yet to be announced.
