Land Rover has revealed the all-new Range Rover Sport. Based heavily on the conventional Range Rover, the Sport is 149mm shorter and 55mm lower than the standard car with sports styling.

Due on sale this summer, the Sport will be available as a seven-seater with two small chairs at the rear. Two engines will be available from launch – a 292hp 3.0-litre V6 diesel and a 510hp 5.0-litre V8 petrol, followed by a 258hp 3.0-litre V6 diesel and a 339hp 4.4-litre V8 diesel.

Emissions will start from 194g/km until the hybrid version appears in 2014, which will bring them down to 169g/km.

Land Rover claims that weight savings could be as much as 500kg over the previous model and the range standard stop/start system improves fuel consumption by 7%.
