Renault’s online dealer quotation platform is generating significant incremental van and car business from smaller fleets, according to the company’s fleet director Keith Hawes.

Launched in early 2008, the rapid response system offers “accumulated expertise, which generates tailored quotes within one or two hours”.

Hawes said: “Dealer staff, without specialist fleet knowledge, often took the line of least resistance and risked waiting until people come through the door. Now they access the system, which produces quotes via complex equations covering the type of business, required vehicles, plus the timetable and financial package.”

Five central staff provide back-up for the internet platform and the small business team assists dealers with marketing, taxation and finance.

Renault is also establishing a dedicated London fleet operation to service the growing number of company-run Retail Group outlets, currently totalling eight.

The re-organisation gives Retail Group’s London dealerships a fleet business manager and a CV specialist.
