Nissan has unveiled new EVs for its model line-up, including the return of the Micra supermini and the transformation of its trailblazing Leaf into an SUV.

The new Micra is based on the same AmpR Small platform as the Renault 5 E-Tech. It will be offered with a choice of 40kWh and 52kWh battery options, with a maximum range of over 248 miles.

Sales of the new Micra will begin before the end of this year, with full specs and prices yet to be announced.

Nissan says the new Micra will be followed in 2025 by the new third-generation Leaf, a model which is based on the same CMF-EV platform as the larger Ariya.

The European version of the Leaf (pictured below) is to be manufactured at Nissan’s factory in Sunderland.

In addition to the Micra and Leaf, Nissan has announced that a new third-generation version of the Juke SUV, which will also be an EV, is due to arrive in 2026.

Nissan has also announced an update to its E-Power hybrid powertrain in the Qashqai SUV, which it claims will bring improvements to emissions, efficiency and refinement.
