UK specifications and prices have been confirmed for the new Mazda 3 lower-medium car.

The model is available to order now as a hatchback, with a saloon version following later in the year.

Two engine options are available at launch – a 122hp 2.0-litre petrol, and a 116hp 1.8-litre diesel – with a more powerful petrol option set to follow.

There’s a choice of five equipment grades: SE-L, SE-L Lux, Sport Lux, GT Sport and GT Sport Tech.

All grades are available with either launch engine – except for the GT Sport Tech which is petrol only – and with a choice of either manual or automatic transmission.

Standard equipment with all grades includes a head up display with traffic sign recognition, radar cruise control, LED headlights, sat-nav, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity and an eight speaker audio system.

SE-L Lux also comes with a reversing camera, smart keyless entry and heated front seats, while Sport Lux further adds chrome cabin detailing, a frameless rear-view mirror and rear privacy glass.

GT Sport comes with electrically adjustable black leather seats, a heated steering wheel and a Bose audio system, while GT Sport Tech gets extra safety gear, including a 360-degree camera and driver attention alert.

Prices for the range start at £20,595 for an SE-L petrol manual, and rise to £27,735 for a GT Sport diesel automatic.

Customer deliveries are set to begin in May.
