Honda’s brand new Jazz will squeeze into the 10% tax bracket with emissions of 120g/km on its smaller 1.2-litre engine.
The 90PS engine is capable of 55.4mpg, while its 1.4-litre 100PS sibling manages 54.3mpg and 123g/km of CO2 with the standard manual gearbox. An optional six-speed auto box will be available from January and will lower the 1.4’s emissions to 120g/km.
The Jazz also promises to be bigger and lighter. It has a larger windscreen and rear quarter windows, and is 55mm longer and 20mm wider. Luggage space is claimed to be as much as 399-litres.
Prices are not yet confirmed for the supermini, which is expected to go on sale in late October.
