Ford has unveiled its new, third-generation Kuga SUV, with engine options to include three different hybrid powertrains.
The Kuga will be available as: a mild hybrid, with a 48V battery assisting a 2.0-litre diesel engine; a conventional hybrid, with an electric motor working with a 2.5-litre petrol engine; and a plug-in hybrid, which pairs a 2.5-litre petrol engine with a 14.4 kWh battery to provide a combined 225hp, and a pure electric range of more than 31 miles.
Predicted fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures are: 56mpg and 132g/km for the mild hybrid; 50mpg and 130g/km for the conventional hybrid; and 235mpg and 29g/km for the plug-in hybrid.
Other engine options will be 1.5-litre petrols with 120hp and 150hp, a 1.5-litre diesel with 120hp, and a 2.0-litre diesel with 190hp.
Compared with the outgoing model, the new Kuga is longer, wider and lower, with a longer wheelbase.
A sliding rear seat will allow rear legroom to be traded for increased boot capacity.
The new Kuga will be available with a Fordpass Connect modem, turning it into a mobile wi-fi hotspot for up to 10 devices.
Other equipment will include an 8in touchscreen running Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system, with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, and a 12.3in LCD instrument cluster.
Driver assistance technologies include lane keeping with blind spot assist, and autonomous emergency braking with a new intersection function.
Available equipment grades will be Titanium, ST-Line and Vignale.
